JML Design is based between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and works with clients across South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales. For select projects further afield, our remote design service brings the same considered process to your home, wherever it is.
Who remote design suits
Remote projects work well when there is clear communication, detailed plans, photos and measurements, and a collaborative project team on site.
It suits homeowners renovating or building outside our local area, people who already have plans drawn and want expert input before quoting and ordering, and anyone who wants a designer’s eye on kitchens, bathrooms, lighting or selections without a local studio.
What we need from you
- Floor plans and elevations, or your builder’s or architect’s drawings
- Photos and videos of the existing space
- Accurate measurements, including ceiling heights, windows and services
- Your timeline, budget and what is and isn’t working
- Contact details for your builder or trades, where they are engaged
How it works
We start with a free 20-minute discovery call, then a paid initial consultation via Zoom to form a clear brief. From there we prepare a tailored scope and fee proposal.
Depending on the scope, we work through video calls, digital presentations, plans, schedules, documentation and supplier coordination, so your builder and trades have what they need to price and build.
What's included, and the limits
Remote design can include concepts, layouts, selections, lighting, joinery design and documentation, the same as a local project.
What remote design can’t do
We are not on site. We rely on accurate measurements and information from you and your project team, and site checks are handled by your builder or trades. If a project needs regular site visits, we will tell you early whether remote design is the right fit.
How it starts
Every remote project begins with a conversation, so we can confirm together that remote design is the right fit before anything is locked in.

We talk through your project, location, timing and budget.
Paid Zoom consultation
A deeper look at your plans, photos and brief.
Tailored proposal

Presentations, schedules and drawings your builder can price and build from.
Remote design FAQs
CAN WE WORK TOGETHER REMOTELY?
Yes. Remote design services are available for select projects Australia-wide. If your project is outside our local service area, we can discuss whether remote design support is the right fit.
DO YOU VISIT THE SITE ON REMOTE PROJECTS?
Remote projects are run by video call and digital presentation, so site visits are not part of the service. Your builder or trades handle on-site checks.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I ENQUIRE?
We arrange a complimentary discovery call, then a paid initial consultation via Zoom. After that we prepare a tailored scope of work and fee proposal.
